Management Committee
Nicole Rouen

Over more than 20 years as a member of QASEL, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to the association, including more than 15 years of service on the Executive Management Committee. During this time, I have undertaken a range of leadership and governance roles, including Treasurer, Secretary, Management Committee Member and Regional Councillor.
I am passionate about supporting professional learning and leadership development in special education. I have been an active member of the QASELcon Planning Committee for more than 15 years and am currently supporting the second cohort of QASEL's Emerging Leaders Breakfast Club, sharing my experience and expertise to strengthen the confidence, capability and professional networks of aspiring leaders.
My contribution to QASEL has been formally recognised through the awarding of QASEL Life Membership (2026) and two QASEL Service Awards, acknowledging my longstanding service and commitment to the association and its members.
I am a strong and committed advocate for special education and students with additional needs. Throughout my involvement with QASEL, I have actively contributed to numerous working parties and reference groups, including the Restrictive Practices Working Party (2026), providing a special education perspective to important policy discussions and initiatives.
I believe in the importance of quality educational leadership, equitable opportunities and ensuring every student receives the right support, in the right place, at the right time. These principles have guided my contributions to QASEL and continue to underpin my commitment to advocating for special education leaders, educators and the students and families they support.
