QASEL Management Committee – advocacy through discussion papers, briefs, providing consultation and feedback on policy and procedures. Supporting QASEL and non QASEL colleagues.

QASEL rep in an infrastructure advisory group – successful advocacy to Central Office design teams regarding building standards and inclusions to be in all State Special Schools

 

2020/ 2021

QASEL rep in Central Office WPHS advisory group – advocacy for staff health and wellbeing and providing insight into challenges and successes associated with working with students with a disability

Queensland Teachers Union – Special Education Committee

Advocacy for members through direct meetings with key Central Office and Regional Office personnel; providing feedback on draft policies and procedures. At times aligning advocacy with QASEL advocacy to ensure greater influence and outcomes for the disability section in education.

Metropolitan Region Teacher Learning Centre Advisory Group – Special School representative. Advocacy and program planning for new and beginning teachers providing a disability and special education lens

Trauma Informed Practices and Research – Active member of the metro Trauma Aware COP and QUT alumni community. Advocating for Trauma Aware Schooling and continued research in Disability and Trauma

 

If elected I will continue to provide strong advocacy and support within the Special Education Sector. I will use my wide experience, from across Primary, Early Childhood and Special School to ensure advocacy for all sectors within Education Queensland and strong support for leaders within our sector.
